Hani Rashid in conversation with Matthew Ritchie

British artist Matthew Ritchie and New York architect Hani Rashid will discuss Frederick Kiesler and his exploration of the relationship between art and space.

Ritchie, in the same vein as Kiesler, does not limit himself to one artistic discipline, but opts for the appropriate form of expression in every given circumstance – be it drawing, painting, installation, sculpture or video art. Ritchies two-dimensional drawings sometimes break free from paper and are transformed into three-dimensional installations which expand and fill the spaces they occupy.

Based on questioning the meaning of existence, and also on the idea of total freedom, the talk will delve into how the observer can realize how he or she can use space at any given time.

Conversation in English.
