Counter / Acting: Self-Organized Universities

Symposium
4/12 2015 — 5/12 2015
Museumsquartier

What kind of new initiatives in art and education arise? What are possible interventions? Contemporary societies are increasingly complex. Migration has no curriculum. Universities reproduce structural racism. Self-organized projects build new spaces for education. Bringing together activists, artists, educators, scholars, students and thinkers, the symposium aims to foster exchange through lectures, presentations of projects and workshops. The focus is on new perspectives of collective learning based upon the agency of art and education.

The symposium was curated by Lena Rosa Händle, Andrea Hubin, Belinda Kazeem-Kaminski, Elke Krasny, Barbara Mahlknecht, Sunanda Mesquita and Hansel Sato.

Organizational and technical support: Andrea Haas, Johannes Köck

A cooperation between the Department of Art and Education at the Institute for Education in the Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Kunsthalle Wien
