Curator Anne Faucheret will guide you through the two solo exhibitions by Ana Hoffner ex-Prvulovic* und Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński.

An event in the context of Vienna Art Week 2021

In order to keep you and our staff healthy, we ask you to follow the recent hygiene and safety requirements of Kunsthalle Wien.

With Ana Hoffner ex-Prvulovic* and Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński, Kunsthalle Wien presents two solo shows in the upper hall of Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier. The space, the architecture, and the dramaturgy have been orchestrated in such a way to draw the audience’s full attention to the respective artistic practice, while offering moments of dialogue as well.

In multimedia installations that combine films, photography, objects, and texts, Ana Hoffner ex-Prvulovic* examines the fabrication of history, memory, and subjectivity. She* insists on the unconscious at work in these processes and points to the traces of hegemony and exclusion they bear. Which stories and practices are swept away and erased? The works of Hoffner ex-Prvulovic* tell stories of queerness as a survival strategy, of non-alignment as ethics (and not only as geopolitics), and of family as a space of chosen kinship.

Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński works primarily with the mediums of film, photography, and installation. The artist intertwines critical Black feminist theory, conceptual visual strategies, and fictional narration. She subjects the regimes of looking to a critical analysis and – often on the basis of scenes from Austrian history – makes the presence of an everlasting colonial past tangible. At the same time, she outreaches the violence contained in archives, museums, and books by opening pathways of mutual exchange, care, and imagination.

We kindly ask you to register via besucherservice@kunsthallewien.at or directly at the box office in Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier.

The guided tour is free with an exhibition ticket and will be held in German.
