Fragility undoubtedly describes both a state of being and a way of working. Marina Faust accordingly incorporates the working process itself into the work; participants will be immersed in a unique and inspiring working environment that will allow room for imagination, exchange and failure.
The seminar by Marina Faust takes ‘fragility’ as a theme for further explorations of photographic materials. Corresponding to the approach Faust took in creating her work RARE THE PARTY, included in the exhibition Salon der Angst, participants will explore experiments in re-photographing as well as appropriating all kinds of visual materials. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, participants will engage with a variety of fields and media.
Marina Faust was born in Vienna, Austria and lives and works in Vienna and Paris, France. Her work includes photography, collages, objects and videos. RARE THE PARTY is a selection of pictures from the archive of Marina Faust’s 20 years of collaboration with fashion designer Martin Margiela.
The seminars of Kunsthalle Wien offer an in-depth exploration of contemporary art and the issues and queries connected with it. They are developed in close collaboration with the artists involved in the exhibitions at Kunsthalle Wien and other experts in contemporary art. Each seminar examines a different subject, which constitutes a combination of each instructor’s interests and research fields. Theory and practice, analysis and the independent realization of one’s own ideas are given equal importance in these two-day events. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 15. If you are interested, please register at Kunsthalle Wien’s art education department.
