What difference does it make?
In the series HiStories / Geschichte(n) artists share their thoughts on the works of other artists. Even though their own work will not be discussed directly, the lectures instead reflect their influences, tastes and interests. HiStories / Geschichte(n) is a subjective history of art putting works at the forefront that provide a space for reflection on the artists own artistic practice.
Jonathan Monk often interprets iconic art historical works from the 20th century and integrates them as a meta-level in his own works. In the exhibition One, No One and One Hundred Thousand he exhibits a work entitled Jonathan Monk presents four chairs and a coat rack by Franz West.
