Karlstag at Karlsplatz

Event / Guided tour

Karlsplatz

Already for the fourteenth time, the art, cultural and educational institutions of Karlsplatz join forces to focus for one day on this great inner-city space for art and culture.

This year, Karlstag will take place in cooperation with Wiener Kinderfreunde, which will present a large children’s festival from 3 to 7 pm in Resselpark to mark the 30th anniversary of the Parkbetreuung. In a seven-hour mega-tour, Herr Karl will personally guide interested visitors across Karlsplatz and into the art institutions.

It is possible to join the tour at any time. At 5:45 pm the tour leads to Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz.

Please find the entire Karlstag program here.

Before Herr Karl‘s mega-tour stops at Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz, at 4:30 pm you have the opportunity for an informal exchange about the current exhibition Unfreezing the Scene. Kunsthalle Wien Prize 2022 . Our art educator Michael Simku will present selected artworks from the exhibition, provides insights into Vienna’s young contemporary art scene, and is available to answer your questions.

Unfreezing the Scene is the eighth edition of the Kunsthalle Wien Prize and brings together ten artists who graduated last year from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna or the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The exhibition illustrates the polyphony of the Viennese art scene and gives expression to the plurality of questions that are lived at the two local art academies and beyond.
