The contrast of light and darkness in life is a fundamental metaphor that reflects the duality of our existence. Light often stands for hope, clarity and knowledge, while darkness symbolizes uncertainty, fear and the unknown. But is it true?

In this interdisciplinary journey through the works of Rene Matić and Oscar Murillo, we invite you to join us in reflecting on the self and the collective, focusing on Josephine Baker and her fight for human rights, through the resonance of the arts: dance, music and language.

A project by Martha Paredes with contributions from: Sunciça Bandic • Sofía Blandón • Sarah Hirschi • Szabolcs Koczur • Stephanie Leandro • Sebastián Neumaier • Nikita Olinevich • Juan David Ortíz • Mariia Roslova

Project coordination: Martin Walkner (Kunsthalle Wien) • Edith Wregg (MUK Music and Arts University of the Arts of the City of Vienna)
