Opening and talks with Christoph Schifferli, Gregorio Magnani, Filipa Ramos
The multi-part exhibition project Publishing as an Artistic Toolbox: 1989–2017 explores the potentials of publishing – in the form of books, magazines, journals, artistic interventions, websites – as a particular medium and context both to circulate information, knowledge – and to produce art. The project is composed of different parts, sections, and components. Apart from material exhibits on display, there will be a series of talks with artists, publishers, and graphic designer to discuss artistic publishing activity.
Filipa Ramos is a writer and editor born in Lisbon and based in London. She is a Lecturer in the Experimental Film MA programme of Kingston University and in the MRes Art:Moving Image of Central Saint Martins, both in London, and works with the Master Programme of the Institut Kunst, Basel. Ramos is Editor in Chief of art-agenda and co-curator of Vdrome.
Christoph Schifferli studied Sinology and Economic History in Paris. Since 1983 he’s mostly been engaged in the realm of multimedia and online technology, with emphasis on art, culture and education. Since the 1980s, Christoph Schifferli has been a collector of photography and artists’ books.
Gregorio Magnani is a book collector and publisher. Under the title Everything is About to Happen his collection of artists’ books has been presented at Corvi-Mora, London; Museo Marino Marini, Florence; Artists’ Space, New York, Museu Serralves, Porto; Cultuurcentrum, Mechelen.
