How do artists explore our present? How do they work and think? In the new Kunsthalle Wien Atelier, you have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with artists. Our workshop series for adults offers the opportunity to be inspired by artists, learn a variety of techniques and create your own works of art.
Together we will look at different methods of sound production as well as traditions and stories of handmade instruments. With the help of small microphones and piezos (sensors), we transform objects into sound-producing devices. For example, we will work with cigar boxes. In a joint improvisation session, we will listen to the different sounds that the objects and instruments produce.
You are welcome to bring a cigar box or object you are interested in developing into a sound making device. A selection of cigar boxes is provided as a base for building onto.
Mel E. Logan works at the interface of technology and art, edging into science. As producer and performer her projects are created collectively and in exchange by her groups VooCha, Chicks on Speed and most recently Psychoelestic Soundbathers. Mel E. Logan creates audio sculptures and performative installations that inspire reflection on the burning political issues of our time, offering a twist into a proactive approach as cracks to open possible solutions.
