Paloma Varga Weisz? sculptural oeuvre, characterized by obvious references to traditional iconography and handcraft, joins the historical with contemporary artistic practice. In her solo exhibition ?Bumped Body? at project space, Paloma Varga Weisz?who most enjoys working with wood?presents newly created sculptures and water-colored portraits. These works concentrate on the human figure, which appears deformed, grotesque and in concert with various objects. The human being is portrayed while facing and submitting to the course of life and history, with the protagonists gaining in strenght through shattering in the process. Varga Weisz creates poetical meditations on motifs taken equally from art history and everyday life, giving space to the enigmatic in a systematically rationalized age of increasing digitalization.
