Peter Kozek

Exhibition
17/12 2002 — 17/12 2002
Karlsplatz

Peter Kozek is the first winner of the Prize of the Kunsthalle Wien. The distinction was awarded to the young graduate of the class of Brigitte Kowanz for the presentation of his diploma work at the University of Applied Art, entitled “contributions to the universal memory bank”.
Peter Kozek operates within the field of tension between installation and theater, spatial picture and stage.
His sophisticated performance loops always redefine the mounted settings. The narration depends essentially on repetition and variation. The author regards his ?z-set? as an attempt at constructing a happiness machine. This machine will be set in motion by the artist and four happiness mimes (Elinor Mora, Andreas Erstling,
Victor Jaschke, Roman Steger, Mora & Fur) on four evenings. A platform, various sources of light, as well as sculptural and architectonic elements are the actors on this stage, on which the mimes finally turn into bodies in space.
