Nora Turato: pool7

Kunsthalle Wien and Tanzquartier Wien present a new performance by Nora Turato. pool7 is the latest performance in the artist’s acclaimed series of works exploring the language of the zeitgeist, isolating the subtexts, failures, and pleasures in communication. Focusing on the voice and the performing body, the performances are studies of tone, pitch, delivery and gesture. More specifically, as expressions of deep-seated emotions that are suppressed by the surface-obsessed present. pool7, which premiered at the ICA London earlier this year, evolves with each performance. Turato methodically deconstructs language with each new iteration, dismantling words and sentences to defy conventional meaning and test the boundaries of language to explore what emerges when words fall apart.
Turato’s 62-metre-long painted mural, Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! is on display in the Kunsthalle Wien’s Vitrine in the MuseumsQuartier until 17 September. This performance, commissioned by Kunsthalle Wien marks the completion of the project.
