For our exhibition Lebt und arbeitet in Wien James Lewis has created a series of sculptures that take the form of sunflowers. The series Not just suffering, but all forms of consciousness takes a humble and somewhat timeless subject that has an iconic status within art history to reflect upon ‘how botany or the extraction of plants has a relationship to colonial histories’.
