Reading by Barbara Kapusta: Dangerous Bodies
Date and time
Location
Kunsthalle Wien
Karlsplatz
Artist Barbara Kapusta’s sculptural installation The Giant (2018), composed of ceramic objects and speech bubbles of text, is on show at both Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier and Karlsplatz locations of the Hysterical Mining exhibition. Kapusta contributes to the Hysterical Mining program with a spoken word performance. She will read a selection of her own writing – The Giant (2018) as well as excerpts specially selected from her forthcoming book, Dangerous Bodies (2019) that brings together a number of significant texts and poems by the artist such as: Empathic Creatures and We Make the Place by Playing. Kapusta frequently approaches the figure, form, physicality and materiality of the body in her practice, pointing to the communication and relations between her protagonists, while significantly often simultaneously addressing language. (In English)
Barbara Kapusta lives and works in Vienna, her practice is the conjunction of the body with materiality and speech. Materiality becomes entrusted with a queer agency that allows for diversity and vulnerability.
